Fund Public Goods on Gitcoin Alpha Rounds
Two more days to be part of a trillion dollar industry that is possible due to on-chain coordination mechanisms!
When introducing family & friends to crypto, I’ve often been told crypto is a scam. From 10,000 miles away, it does seem like a large part of crypto is filled with scammers and mercenaries. There is, however, this small corner of crypto that has the potential to change the world. Funding public goods democratically is one such endeavour that belongs in this corner.
In this post, I will share some really cool projects that are currently active in the Gitcoin Alpha Rounds. To learn how to fund projects in the alpha round, check out this thread.

Krebit
Krebit is an open source identity verification protocol for verifiable credentials. Using these verifiable credentials, Krebit empowers its users to build decentralized reputation in a privacy preserving way.
Currently, they are already live and users can already go on Krebit and claim personhood, work and community credentials. Credentials include things like Github followers, Stack Overflow Reputation, Cred Protocol score & completed tasks on Spect 🤗
They also have an sdk that can be used by developers to build applications powered by Krebit credentials!
What does the world look like if Krebit is maximally successful?
Imagine a Future where our kids can work in a community from anywhere in the globe, getting funded or hired for full time jobs or gigs regardless of location, race, gender language, and get compensated only based on their Talent. Krebit's mission is to make Web3 Identity more trustworthy, meritocratic and privacy-preserving, by providing fully-decentralized, community-verified credentials. - Alerios, Co-founder of Krebit.

Kokonut Network
Kokonut Network’s mission is to promote, organize, fund and manage coconut farms. Their longer term vision is to reduce obstacles to agricultural development, and rural project funding, and democratizing investment in real-world projects. They currently organize as a Moloch DAO and community members can fund the DAO in return for governance rights. Kokonut provides blockchain governance and open-source accounting to the agricultural industry, specifically coconut farms. Coconut products market size is currently valued at $11.5 billion in 2018 and is estimated to reach $31.1 billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of 13.6% from 2019 to 2026.
What does the world look like if Kokonut Network is maximally successful?
The world would be full of conscious humans that know how to grow food organically and actually have control over the entire process and profit from it while protecting the planet and creating habitat for wild animals, bees, and soil restoration in many ways. - Wasabi, Founder @ Kokonut Network
This is truly one of the more unique DAOs that I have come across! Check out Kokonut Network and fund them here.
LunCo
LunCo’s mission is to accelerate Space Exploration by providing open source engineering software.
LunCo’s simulation tools can be used for games similar to SimCity or for professional projects in place of Solidworks, AGI.
With the software, a user can do things like supply chain management, robot and rocket control, city management, economic and budget management and even build realistic space technologies!
What does the world look like if LunCo is maximally successful?
People all over the world work together on space missions in an open way. They can instantly share their designs, making a global network of space engineering knowledge.
That would results in engaging people in space economy, urging space exploration, and creation of local economics all over the world, despite nationality or location, so everyone would be able to benefit from space - Rod Mamin, Founder of LunCo

Datalatte
Datalatte enables people to own their data and earn from it. People can share their consumer app’s data or respond to surveys and mint the ownership of the data by claiming a dataBarista NFT. Anytime a data buyer pays for the data, people earn tokens in their preferred currency. Users also earn XPs and a portion of fees generated from datalatte’s marketplace. User data is stored privately and in full control of the user.
What does the world look like if Datalatte is maximally successful?
In datalatte's vision, AI works for the people and not the big tech. People get paid in tokens or services for the personal data contributions to make AI models more efficient. This intent to close the economic gap and makes sure AI applications do not form monopolistic power over people who are using it. - Amir , Founder of Datalatte

Spect
Spect helps DAOs centralize context and decentralize decision making. Context about tasks and contacts can be shared among contributors while decisions about adding new contributors or approving grants can be pushed to the edges. Recurring chores that are not very fun can be automated.
With Spect, organizations can setup their operations within a few seconds and have the ability to customize it to their needs over time.
What does the world look like if Spect is maximally successful?
If Spect is maximally successful, building organizations that maximize collective well-being while at the same time personalize for the individual is the norm. It’s incredibly easy for contributors in an organization to be culturally aligned and use their ownership in the organization to build better products and services.

These are just five projects out of several other awesome projects out there. Do check them out and consider funding public goods. With the quadratic funding mechanism, even a $1 donation goes a long way!
